President’s Message
Quite a few of you know my
daughter,
Hannah. She always
wants to try or learn something new. However, each
time she comes to
Brian
and me with another request to play a sport or
take
lessons for something, we have our chat about commitment.
We want Hannah to experience
anything that strikes her interest. But we also want her to know that if she
signs up, she must follow through. This is especially true if it is a team
event. We believe it’s important for Hannah to appreciate that her team is
counting on her to be on time and do her best. I try to remind myself that these
rules apply to what I choose to do also. If I commit to take on an extra task at
work, my bosses and coworkers are counting on me. If I agree to bring something
to Hannah’s school, the teacher and students are expecting me to bring it.
And, of course when I commit to the Junior League, my fellow committee members,
chair, council chair, and the community are counting on me to follow through.
Even though we are right in the middle of our League year, I like to use the
beginning of the calendar year to reaffirm my commitment to those I have pledged
to help. Please take this time to check your calendars and reaffirm your
obligations.
Thank you to those who have
agreed to be on the Board next year. We have a wonderful slate and we applaud
your commitment.
Teamwork:
Coming together, sharing together, working together, succeeding
together.—Unknown
